‘Absolutely incumbent’ Gladys Liu makes statement to parliament
Shadow Infrastructure minister Catherine King says it is “absolutely incumbent” for Gladys Liu to make a statement to parliament about her alleged links to Chinese backed influence groups. The government is facing new questions regarding Ms Liu after it was revealed ASIO warned senior Liberals about her alleged links to the Chinese Communist Party ahead of her pre-selection. Ms King described Ms Liu as “one of the Liberal Party’s biggest fundraisers” and said because “money has exchanged hands” then there is more to the story. The Shadow Infrastructure Minister said she wanted to make sure Ms Liu fully disclosed every organisation she has been a part of as “foreign influence in our parliament and in our democracy is pretty significant”.
