Democrats ‘can’t walk away’ from impeachment now

US Studies Centre’s James Brown says Nancy Pelosi was right when she said the Democrats had “no choice” but to move the impeachment process forward, as the US House of Representatives prepares to draft impeachment charges against Donald Trump. Speaker Pelosi announced on Thursday she would be asking the Democratic committee chairs to proceed with articles of impeachment, saying President Trump “leaves us no choice but to act because he is trying to corrupt once again the election for his own benefit". Mr Brown says it “would be a defeat” for the Democrats if they did not proceed following public hearings in the House Intelligence Committee. “Having held two months of hearings, they couldn’t walk away from the issue now,” Mr Brown said.
