Govt needs to ‘come clean’ on medevac
Deputy Labor Leader Richard Marles says the government "should come clean and tell us exactly what is going on" with the medevac repeal because it remains "an important area of policy and in the national interest”. The government was adamant the medevac legislation undermined Australia's border protection and national security; an argument Mr Marles said was “rubbish”. The Deputy Labor Leader told Sky News more than 900 people came to Australia from Manus and Nauru under medical transfers before medevac legislation. "The idea that 180 people who came under medevac somehow equals an undermining of our border security is ridiculous," he said. Image: News Corp Australia
